Unfortunately I have no view to the South and limited view to the South East in Sydney due to my lower storey roof , upper storey roof line and a gigantic Council tree out the front , but I do get a very small window of opportunity to image the Tarantula Nebula at a certain time for about 1.5hrs ( last week it was 10.30pm to midnight) Captured just under 3hrs over 2 nights last week.
6” f6 GSO Bintel Newt
EQ6-R pro mount
ZWO2600MC cooled to -10C , Gain 100
TS Optics GPU coma corrector
78 x 2 min dithered guided subs
40 x Flats
60 x Bias
PHD2 Multistar guiding ( 0.60 to 0.65 arc sec total )
EQMOD, Stellarium, APT
Stacked in DSS ( using reference frame for 2 Night stacking )
Processed in Startools V1.8 via Compose OSC Bi Colour NB
Colour SHO matrix , Colour Style Scientific
Tried the Startools Spatially Variant PSF Deconvolution module again and worked really well to sharpen fine detail and stars
Comments most welcome
Thanks

That’s a wonderful result Martin especially because of your limited window. Excellent detail almost 3d in appearance and well controlled all the way into the core. Stars are excellent too!

Very good image Martin ...I can't do as well with the 11 inch and dark skies..those six inch Newtonians are just so good.

Hi All,
Thanks very much for all your kind comments
If time and clears skies allow I might capture some more hours on Tarantula. It can only improve detail and fidelity and of course allows Startools to weave its magic
Alex,
This little 6” newt has never let me down, she’s a bit banged up , mouldy , chipped primary mirror but it does the job , cost me the princely sum of $299.
back in 2017. It’s a great combo with my 2600MC , an all rounder.
Thanks
Martin

Thanks Steve
Very happy with the result for only a few hours
I’m one of only a handful of people who use basic Newtonian Reflectors for imaging on this forum, most folk shudder at thought of collimation and having a bigger tube on their mount but they are wonderful scopes , low cost and real all rounders. Use a good coma corrector and they just do the job.
Cheers

Very nice indeed Martin! I can't comment on the accuracy of the colours, but they are pleasing overall and you've avoided the temptation to hyper-saturate. Good detail too and you haven't blown out the core. Nicely done!

Thanks Marcus
I’m learning to back off on the saturation, it can mask detail
Yeh pretty happy with the level of detail the 2600MC can expose for only 2 hours or so
Imagine 20 hours or so , it would take me 20 clear nights to gather that much data due to restricted view , Im not that conscientious.
Thanks again

Thank you
A 6” newt that cost me $299 back in 2017
It was and I think still is advertised as primarily a visual scope only by Bintel
Well we proved that wrong
Cheers

Thanks Greg
A few more hours added to it can only improve the detail ( 3D look )
Maybe tonight if this blasted wind settles down
3 to 4 clear nights in Sydney coming up
I’m taking full advantage as it’s been a real AP drought the past year
