The good news was that despite a weather forecast of another major rain event with possible continued flooding, we woke to sunshine. The bad news was that it was short lived and the seeing was ordinary.

Continuing our conundrum of trying to understand Meteoblue's data, once again they had the seeing as sub 1 arc second while both indexes were average (4 and 2) and the jet stream was high at 31m/s. The actual outcome was worse than the indicated 4/2 indices, more like 2/1. This seems to happen every time with their data, when the arc seconds are less than 1, the seeing is terrible. Go figure!
In the brief time before the clouds came in we captured a full disk and a close up of the amazing complex of ARs 3145, 3140 and 3141.

Full disk Ha image taken with Daystar Solar Scout 60 double stacked with Lunt 40 etalon, ASI178MM camera and 0.5 reducer.
Close up image taken with K102, Solar Scout Quark and ASI178MM.

Great set of pics Peter and Clare esp. considering the weather conditions. All cloudy and rainy in Central Vic. Nice flaring around AR 3141. Cheers, John W.

Thanks John. It was great to see details of what was happening. It's very much back to rain here today.
A recent check of BOM's climate outlook unfortunately indicates that this poor weather has many months still to run, at least to Feb :(

Great captures there!
Meteoblue seeing forecast quality: less so. I've been puzzled by that myself too.

Thanks Mirko.
Glad we're not the only ones puzzled by Meteoblue.
