Help please

I accidentally connected positive to negative and negative to positive on my AZEQ6 mount now it won’t turn on.
What should I do to fix it.
Any advice will be appreciated and yes I gave my self a good slap.

Alan,
Don't panic. This is probably recoverable. Unfortunately (and stupidly) many mounts don't have reverse polarity protection. I have the Takahashi clone of the EQ6, the EM200 which also doesn't have reverse polarity protection. I check by using an indicating 12v cable. After checking that I've connected the battery terminals as i connect, I next look for the green led on the cigarette plug, before I plug it the other end into the mount.

Now to your problem:

First check for fuses in the power supply and the EQ6.
Is the power supply still producing 12V?

If the power supply is working and all the fuses are in tact, you have most likely blown on or both voltage regulators rather than blown the whole thing. So you might have to change one or both of the voltage regulators labelled, U9 and U10 on the MC007 board.

Worst case, buy the board replacement kit from SW and replace the whole board but try the regulators first.

Thanks Joe , yes the cable has 12v where it connects to the mount so that’s ok and I’ll have a look in the morning the U9 and U10 or a blown fuse, otherwise I’ll take it to my technician friend to have a look for me.
When I connected the alligator clamp there was a small spark but no smoke or burning smell so hopefully it is just blown fuse.

I need to identify the part number of U8 and U9 chips on the circuit board.

I took the mount to my techy mate and he identified that U8 and U9 are blown out but because they have been burnt out he can’t read the part numbers.

The only way I can think to get this if someone would unscrew the panel and circuit board and photograph the 2 chips so I can get the part numbers.

I would be totally indebted to anyone that would do this for me.

Hey guys just an update on my mount, my techie has fixed the mount for a total cost of $118.50 compared to nearly $300 for a new mother board.

These are the chips and part numbers for future reference if anyone makes the same mistake I made.

That was a bit of good fortune, Alan!

I fried my EQ6 some years ago and had to do the board from Tasco Aus.

I'd let the magic blue smoke out of mine, mis-pinned in the dark when my power fell out.

Fortunately the EQ8 has fixed that possibility.

For the tiny cost I really think it's worth adding a small reverse polarity circuit on the input for your gear. A small P-ch or N-ch mofset circuit is all that's needed. Will be adding one to my power setup once I figure out exactly what I need. Will probably add two - one just for the mount & a second for accessories.
