Hi,

I've just had the scope out in the first really cold night and noticed the amazing amount of mositure/dew on everything and wondered....

should I be doing anything special when I pack up and move the scope from the cold night air to the relative warm of the house? What about lenses and other gear?

Will the moisture run down in the inside of the scope and settle on the mirror causing spots etc for instance?

I'm using newtonian scopes without any form of dew shield.

many thanks

niko

Don't wipe any lenses or mirrors!!!!!! Let them dry naturally inside, just leave the caps off until they are well dry. Sure wipe down the outside of the tube and the barrels of eyepieces, but take care you don't dislodge dust and dirt etc from the inside to fall down onto the mirror. Natural drying is best here, or if you are desperate use a hairdryer on the walls.
