After almost 70 yrs of AP, my first ever try at short exposures with static
camera.
600D 60x 9secs @ ISO 1600. Noise reduction in camera, no darks, flats etc. Stacking and basic processing in DSS, and downsized in Irfanview. I'll do my next effort @ISO 3200

And a pretty good effort indeed Raymo, well done mate.

Thanks fellas. As the longer standing members may possibly recall, I gave up
AP a while back because we get so incredibly few usable nights per year, and I was sick of setting up my gear only to have to pack it up again when socked
in with cloud.
Yes Kuz, big changes indeed. Fondly remember[I don't think] freezing cold nights spent manually guiding, keeping a magnified star centralised in the eyepiece reticle, and stuffing the whole exposure up by pressing the wrong
button when making a correction.
For the sake of comparison I'm going to do the same target again at 3200.

A great image Raymo , and a great target for wide field camera work.

I'm new at the imaging side of things, and have made several attempts at this target without success. My compliments on a fine piece of work!

Thanks to the second group of fellas. I was hoping to do the 3200 version
tonight, but socked in again.
Warren, the acquisition of static camera short exposure images is as basic
as AP gets, so I assume that your lack of success with this target relates to
stacking and/or the very basic processing that is required in order to produce
a worthwhile image. If you think that I may be able to give you some help,
feel welcome to PM me.

for those who are interested in static imaging here is a good video by Nebula Photos.

if you go to the channel you can see there are a couple of add on videos where he goes through processing with different (free software)

Humble thanks. If I don't have a bit more success, I may just do that.
I don't think it's the processing, although you never know... :bashcomp:
