Geez....

I'm champin' at the bit to get home and set up for an all-niter with the ToUcam.

I'm really fired up for a big night.

I'm going to make a huge amount of free space on the hard drive the moment I walk through the front door.

And then it's open up every weather forecasting resource at my disposal and disappear completely into the night.

Waaahhhaaaaahhhaahhhaaaahhhaaaa!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :screwy:

Even I'm getting out there tonight!:) It seems like ages since I last had the scope out... due to either clouds or commitments...

I'm looking forward to it... got the thermals on, and the freezer suit in the truck... just waiting till Lyn and Kiara get home for dinner then I'm off to Blue Hill! (I wish didn't have to drive to get away from the light!:mad2:)

BTW guys don't forget the ISS pass tonight about 18:30-18:35!

It will be clear tonight! Nothing will stop that. Stars were twinkling like mad before, but look to be settling down.. maybe tonight will be a good night for a change.

I'll get Jupiter from 10:30-midnight (or so), get a few hours nap and up again for the Moon later!

Good luck, Mike.

I think it's gonna be a goodun'

There's a nice high right over the top of us, the jet looks OK and transparency looks sweet.

Great night so far!

- Collimation spot on
- Seeing above average
- My alignment spot on! Don't need to touch the paddle!
- Jovian moons dancing nearby

Only problem is the dew, as Narayan said.. making transparency worse..

The temperature has stabilised here, about 10.5deg..

But the seeing appears to be deteriorating, and my mirrors must be dewing up cause transparency is dropping through the camera.

hmm might have to get a few hours nap before the moon.

What an awesome night! I found the collimation on my secondary mirror was WAAAAAAYYYYY out!!! Pulled it completely out of the scope and used a set of verniers on it to get it level with the holder unit. Much better now! No-wonder I've been having focus issues!

Got better pics of lagoon, sombrero, triffid, swan, ghost o joops, eagle, carina, omega cluster and tarantula.

Very happy. Might even go out again later!

Great work Matt and Dave!

DP that's a ripper! Look at the scale! Definitely your best!

I've had a few hours sleep and i'm out again. Seeing is still pretty good!

Mars and the moon, here I come!

thanks mike and matt,

Hey Matt, i have never done it before, but Mike uses layers to do a composite image of planets and moons.

that moon looks slightly out of whack in terms or rgb, but I reckon if you did a registax run based on the moon and then replaced the current moon, you would have a great image

Glad to see that you guys have been having fun. I'm away from home with nothing but naked eye (specs assisted). I sat outside, up in the far northern suburbs of Sydney for 30 mins last night, around midnight. Sky was beautiful. Even with Sydney light pollution, I was thrilled with what I could see. Not much twinkling. Milky Way dust lanes detectable. Up again at 5:30 to look at the Moon. Lovely - wished I had my gear with me.

Looking forward to seeing all the images.

A little bit of Mars and a little bit of Jupiter.

The red channel of each from a random avi of each.

matt
12-05-2007, 01:24 PM
Good work, Mike!

I haven't had a crack at Mars since that tiny little sneaky I captured a number of weeks ago.

He's getting bigger now. And interesting.

Plenty of detail there.

What was time of capture???
