Based on these bizarre wall ornaments, guess what may be in this solitary building? Prizes will be allotted for the first correct answer, and also the first incorrect answer. First correct answer gets a $2.00 carwash token for the Busy Bee servo - Mudgee. First incorrect answer gets two (2) soft serve ice-cream cones from Macca's - Mudgee. Prizes not transferrable.

And I can hear the minds ticking already........here is a classic case of "measure three times before cutting".......and yes, I measured incorrectly three times exactly. Still, lovely precision wall ornaments - unique to say the least.

Thinking I would quickly paint the eaves (due 6 mths ago), finally did them today before the rain hits again....Ha! Wishful thinking indeed. Just finishing and it's spitting rain - the mysterious building has a devoted stereo with 1000's of tracks on "shuffle" mode. As the spitting started, Supertramp's "It's Raining Again" came on play, closely followed by Led Zepplin's "The Rain Song". I rushed inside and shut it down in fear Grace Jones would be next with "Walking in the Rain"! That would have completely done my head in!

Going by the windmill and the ornaments...it would appear to be a rare Bahtinov-Fly pump room ...so it probably has one of those rare collimation focus pumps in it..?

Uncanny assumption and correct! Mike wins the Busy Bee Carwash. Token in tonight's despatches............. Macca's soft serves prize still up for grabs.

The pump is hidden away in the bar fridge as a safety measure.

I don't have the heart to dismantle the windmill - tower looks a likely candidate for a RadioAstro dish mount in the coming months though.

I was going to do a long winded arty waffle that used the word juxtaposition too much but I made myself sick tryin to compose it.

So I'll go with "markings warning there are zombies trapped inside".

I just had to look up Juxtaposition! Maybe if we transposed a Bahtinov over a Duncan, what would be the result?

Quite often I do have concerns being trapped in there myself as there is only an external lock - and I have been mistaken for the walking dead - usually on a Saturday morning.....

But close, yet no cigar, Oska. You are the proud winner of 2 Macca's soft serves from Mudgee. I'll bubblewrap them and pop them in tomorrow's post.

And the interior of this unassuming shed is equally as unassuming - just an old man and his old scopes- aka the warm room.....not as flash as some but I like to call it home.

The good part is I find myself blessed to be able to spend as much time there as I like, and actually enjoy what I'm doing - not driven to distraction by it but meeting the mental challenges by pencil arithmetic and push-to rather than the computer - I do have go-to as well though.

Is it being regressive? It seems the aperture fever is abating, possibly as a result of ageing badly and finding lifting the big buggers somewhat a challenge. I am now preferring to go for the older gear and the older methods - I've always been a visual astronomer. And I'm not afraid to pull them down and give them a tweak - it's quite enlightening what's inside and a revelation. I think I've learnt (absorbed) as much information in the last 7 years as I've done in my entire lifetime. And a lot of it I appreciate has come from other members of IIS and CN.

Astronomy - we all approach it differently and for different reasons - and hopefully we all get as much enjoyment/fun from it as I do. :hi:
