Here's a short 40 minute animation, I took of a solar flare that just happened to erupt at the worst time of the day when the atmosphere is the most turbulent ,I used a 120mm f8.3 refactor with my Combo Quark and TZ4

Nice capture. Put of curiousity, what time of day is most turbulent where you are? (I don't do much solar observing)

Fantastic animation Martin - great capture and lots of action!!
Judging from the GONG this looks to be around 1.30pm, as you say well beyond good seeing time. Here in Melbourne often by 10am its already deteriorating.

Got it! 11:08am from Learmonth GONG.
This same spot must have continued to flare through the day.
Great timing on your capture.
