I had a frustrating day in imaging the sun between the clouds particularly in completing a six frame mosaic of the full solar disc. Once achieved I zoomed in towards active region AR3092 and the long filament.

Nice detail George - glad you got some images with the cloud.

as JW said , very nice detail, have been following the progress of the large filament on Gong, Spaceweather .com etc. Certainly is a beauty and you've captured it well. The full disc mosaic looks a little funky at the eastern and western limbs, minor grievance.

Jeff,

I got some thin cloud over edge of that mosaic panel, I was hoping that the stacking program would remove it. It was also where the stitching of the vertical panels were done so there must of been some mismatch there.

Alan,

I used the Takahashi FS-60C scope with the Tak 1.7x module turning the scope into an f/10. I used double stacked Coronado SM60's Etalons on the front of the scope. At the focuser end I use a BF30 filter followed by a Tele Vue 2x Powermate Barlow. The images were captured using the ZWO ASI174MM camera.

The frustration was worth it. Great images really showing the details. As Jeff has been doing, we also have been able to follow this large filament on the GONG site as the weather has not been co-operative at all until today.
