Saturn and Jupiter 3rd Sept

Set up the 8 inch Newt on the lawn on Saturday night as there were periods of clear sky starting to show. After the clouds parted over Octans I quickly polar aligned the HEQ5 and waited for Saturn to appear through the muck. It did for a while but periods of reasonable seeing were being interupted by passing cloud throughout the latter part of the night. I managed my first take of Jupiter this season, mostly through passing cloud but it's brightness penetrated the cloud enough to get a shot of the shadow of Europa on the disc.

Great shots Michael. It was certainly a challenge with the clouds Saturday night.

Good effort Michael! It’s very difficult getting enough good data for an image with lots of high cloud around. Nice work!

nice work mickoid, a fair bit of detail there esp on jupiter.
