Earlier last night we had taken an image of Saturn both in colour and in R+IR.

When we were processing this we had another look at our Jupiter image from last night and noticed the elongation of Europa. We tried something we haven't done before, and that is we put an alignment point in AS!3 on Europa itself and re-stacked the SER. Hasto presto, a much better formed Europa. Re-worked Jupiter image attached.

Great work. You must have captured these during better seeing than I chose on Saturday night. Another fine set from that 6 inch. I noticed you posted these on Cloudy Nights, you should also include them in the Small Bore Challenge section, 6 inch scopes or less.

Thanks Michael. Yes, we had some quite good seeing interspersed with some not so good and clouds. We actually took some images around 7.30pm and then again around 8.30pm and finally Jupiter at 10.30pm only to be clouded out totally.
We have seen the small bore section on CN but it seems to get buried and difficult to find unless someone has posted recently.

Great images! Yes quite a difference since you placed the align point on Europa itself. Well done:thumbsup:

Thanks David. We have not put alignment points on planetary moons before as we seem to remember somewhere something said that alignment points shouldn't go outside the boundaries of the object. Not sure where this came from but we'll try this again in the future.
