This shot was taken of the bright star Dschubba with the comet of the month Panstarrs K2 in "close" proximity on Wednesday evening under clear skies from my backyard obs. Scorpio was sinking fast behind the gum trees so this was a mixed attempt to capture some frames (over exposed) to see what came of it.

Total 18 subs of a mix of 15sec & 30sec exposures at varying ISO 1600-3200 Canon 60D/10"F5
no darks no flats

Its blown out no doubt, very hard to control the exposure and glow without taking calibration frames but fun to see none the less.

Cheers,
Anthony

Good catch Anthony from a light polluted backyard! Not a bright comet at this stage and being close to such a dominant star makes it look even fainter. I was out that evening too but in much darker skies. It did not photograph as green as yours, there was a lot of dew at my location and lens fogged up a little. Just as a comparison, I made a GIF of your shot and mine to show the comet's movement.

Cheers team!

Thanks Dave!

Nice overlay Mick - you can really guage the fast trajectory of this comet.
Yeh, my image was over exposed due to the high ISO and light capacity of the Newt so I guess a little to rich in color and vibrancy heheheh...
