I was out past Esk in Qld last night at Watts Bridge Airfield. There were only a few other people there and the seeing wasn't all that great, but around 7.45pm the whole field was illuminated, like car lights from the next field. I looked up to see the brightest meteor I've ever seen (out of an admittedly small sample size). The field was lit up for probably 3 full seconds, and the incredibly bright ball/streak broke into 3-4 pale bright blue and greenish balls before fading away. It was pretty amazing, and I can only assume it was some sort of space junk. My mind may have been playing tricks, but a few minutes later I thought I heard a low rumble in the distance. Definitely the highlight of the evening.

I saw one a month or so ago over Perth.
Bright green, low and broke into orange pieces.
Fluke of a view, the excitement was huge.
Glad you got to experience it.

Yes it was certainly the best I've ever seen, no comparison. Yours sounded great too - green and orange!
