First things first. Very cool website! Stumbled onto it from over at CN's and thought I would join up. Looks like a cool place and hope I can contribute.

Here's a few pics of my "Newest" Setup, ready for some Astrophotography. It's a 3 year old 12" LX200 Classic w UHC coatings, Version 4.32 HC, Shortened 12" GFT, 2" UHTC Diagonal, Kendrick for the Corrector and the EP's, Orion Flexi Shield, Celestron 8x50 Polar finder with illuminated Reticle, Homemade Mirror Lock, HC Tray for tripod. To say I got a deal on it would be an understatement. Still checking the bottom of my shoes. (:whistle: $2500)

Just installed a set of Bucks Gears, Bob's knobs and EZ Focus Kit.

I just picked a Rebel off of Astromart and I'm in the process of getting ready to remove the IR filter in it. Waiting on delivery of an Orion 80mm f/11 Guidescope which will temporarily autoguide the setup with the ToUCam till I pick up a 201XT or an ST4 after Christmas.

That's a VERY nice looking setup you've got there :eyepop: How often do you get out to observe?

Have you taken many shots with the ToUcam?

Looking forward to seeing your results with the Digital Rebel - those cameras are really producing some stunning results by those with the skills! :prey2: :camera:

Also, though I shudder at the very thought of performing surgery on an $1800 (australian) camera, what was involved in removing the IR filter and is this a reversible process??

If you browse that site you'll get an idea of how much of a difference it makes. My wife was having a fit when she found out I was getting ready to rip into an $800 US camera:eyepop:

That was until I bought her a Canon A75 to take pictures of the baby and Cristmas Lol.

Nice rig dude, feeling a bit inferior now. Would like to see your astrophotos when you get started. Good to see yet another LX200 on site. We should start an LX200 thread. How easy was it to install Bobs knobs? Is it worth the trouble?

:ashamed: No need to feel inferior. To me the scope that makes you happy is the scope you should own. Honestly, I'm dying to get my hands on an Orion 80ED and a nice GoTo mount. Dragging this beast out is a chore sometimes Lol. But when it's steady and I want to go deep, it certainly does walk the dog.

Knobs were cake to install. 10 minutes and it was done. Of course another hour was spent retweaking the collimation but it was 10X easier with them in place.

I'm all for an LX200 thread. Although common on a lot of sites I think it provides a central place for people to go when they have questions or issues. Let's see what Ice thinks.
