OK, so this should probably have a prize, and needs a poll, but I'm just about to have to get back to work, so I can't think of a prize, and don't have time to do a poll. Maybe we should do this properly at a later date, or a mod can erm mod this post, anyway...
Just quote and vote for the following :
Votes are open for the best astrophotographer awards, in a number of categories :
Best 'Coffee Table' book collection.
Humayan
Best 'Poster Print' collection.
Strongman Mike
Best Comprehensive Poster.
Eric (Ezystyles) ( Is there any part of the sky he hasn't photographed ? )
Best Planetary.
hmm, not really 'my thing' but I like a lot of Mike Salways' and I've always liked Rumples on his blog and at SCP, and Zac Pujic is kicking goals.
Having noted all of the above, I'd also like to mention that there are a dozen more to my mind that would be able to fill the above, but alas I am just one vote. Can you think of any other glaringly obvious categories that I've overlooked ? Most achievement out of modest gear ? least achievement out of good gear ? ( me ! ) Gotta go, work beckons ..

You missed best DSO effort with a ToUcam. Has to be Ken (ballaratdragons)
Hi Guys
I will probably be shot down in flames here, but I'm going to say it anyway.
Also this is not directed to anyone specific, or anything personal intended, but I think.........
There are people on this forum, me included, that will never reach the standards of some, and probably never really want to.
The people you have mentioned are truly outstanding, in their work, and I, plus I,m sure others love their images.
I think if a competitive nature toward imaging is brought in you will see the lose of many excellent photos.

Thanks Phil,
but I totally agree with Leon. Sort of takes the 'fun' out of imaging.
If it got to a point of competition, I wouldn't bother posting images any more as there are guys in here who could take it waaayyyy too serious. I'd rather look at, and enjoy, everyones 'efforts'.
But I'll take my prize now thanks

Well put.
Also, I find the most exciting and fun astrophoto's I shoot are the ones that will never win any awards for looking good.
But hey, competitions are still fun.

Ahh, your all soft :P
It wasn't meant to be about a competition ( hence no prize, and the title _awards_ ), it is about the recognition, and that should inspire not thwart.
Australian of the year isn't a comp, Nobel Prize isn't a comp .. I see what your saying, but maybe i didn't make myself clear, or i just don't get it :) ..

Alan,
I am humbled that you find my work worthy enough of such recognition!
I did always want to put together a coffee table book someday. I might just do it!
Thank you. :)
Regards,
Humayun
I always enjoyed the monthly DSO imaging challenge, they were a great way to hone our skills and see some great variations of the same DSO.
Maybe it could be run with a vote at the end of the month.
Cheers

Hi Al, cheers and thanks for the positive feedback. Glad that you like my work however, i am sure there are a lot of others who deserve the same if not more than me. :) I'm for what Ric said. Have a DSO imaging challenge monthly ;) Striker was organising this awhile back. I wouldn't say a competition as in comparing an image to one another, more a competition to image a specific object. This will help one another to locate that object and have a go at it.
my 2 cent cheers.
