Hi,
found this project for a nice 3d printable astrotracker with full goto and automatic polar alignment:

https://openastrotech.com/

Built it, came out nicely, then found it has bugs in the firmware that make it unusable in the Southern Hemisphere. There have been multiple reports on the discord, and bugs listed on github, but no action has been taken to fix as none of the devs are in the Southern Hemisphere.

Just a warning - don't bother to spend your time and money building it until/if the devs ever get around to fixing it.

Thanks for the heads-up about the issues with that tracker. I know someone who is interested in making one - now there is a reason to avoid it.

Cheers,

Unfortunately he left out full details of the second part of his code change. Several people have also tried to repeat his success , including me, without being able to reproduce his results. There is another fellow now working on fixing it, but he still has a way to go.. I will post if and when it is fully workable. Hoping that is soon as I have a fully completed unit sitting on my desk!

Maybe OnStep could help here...

Thanks to the work of one person on Discord, the Southern Hemisphere problems appear to be fixed. Did some preliminary testing today using Cartes Du Ciel, and all worked as it should....

cheers
