That hi res shot is stunning. The colour in this area just blows me away and you have captured it beautifully.

Excellent image, Luke. The framing is great, too - it looks like a giant cosmic jellyfish swimming through the stars.

The restrained colours are much easier on the eye than a lot of the saturated-neon images you see.

Cheers,
V

Yeah, niiiice shot Luke! I love that subtle cyan/teal hue in wide field MW shots. Agree about your sky conditions comment too, you are in a lovely dark spot, I would love to be able to shoot such a scene from Eagleview some day

Great image Luke,
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price of the lens you used

No wonder the picture is so good. :)

Thanks for the kind words guys. Thanks Alan for pointing out a typo, that cine lens is not the lens I used , I will edit the info on astrobin.

Didnt process the image much took 2 mins after WBPP, just curves and a little bit of increased saturation. Could have done more but I feel many imagers tend to over saturate this field and loose fine detail.

amazing what you can do from a dark sky! great shot especially for such a short integration!

Thanks Adam, first time imaging at f2.8 , I wasnt sure how long to make each sub. Clear Skies indicated I would cloud out in a few hours so chose a shorter sub time. Sky was so transparent could easliy have gone 120sec subs. Oh to have some extended and reliably good conditions.

Yeah that's lovely. I'd maybe stop the lens down to f/4 because you've got some funky triangular stars there.

edit: I take that back. Looking at it more closely, it's just backfocus. Your stars are great in the centre, and turn into tear drops towards the edges. Maybe a 0.5mm - 1mm shim would fix that!

Great work.
