Hello all,

I am chasing a supplier of Devlin washers/shims that are in need of replacing in my mount.
I followed the astrobaby tear down instruction and would like to hypertune it using their method. The shims disintegrated upon removal so will need replacing.
I have contacted Doug as suggested on the page but sending them from the states has proved unreliable. 2 orders and 6 weeks later, my mount still sits in pieces, waiting for these stupid bits of plastic.
Does anyone know of an Australian supplier?

TIA

Hi

What I have is probably no use, but, I have sheet teflon, ~1mm thick. Shims could be cut from it.

Delrin is significantly harder, so teflon is probably not a suitable replacement.

Let me know if you would like to try.

Philip

it is available on ebay (https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=Acetal%20Delrin&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-139619-5960-0&mkcid=2&itemid=&targetid=&device=c&mktype=&googleloc=9071329&poi=&campaignid=15791083372&mkgroupid=&rlsatarget=&abcId=9300816&merchantid=&gclid=Cj0KCQjw2_OWBhDqARIsAAUNTTEPQ uVosqYuZdw_JzupymHGGFzSZGz97fnBLfKF pBDOxArcM2OLROMaAqVpEALw_wcB)...

Thanks for your reply but the material by itself is of no help, really. I don’t have means to machine them to the right specifications.

Thanks Philip,

I figure I’ll give it another week before I source Teflon sheet. I know others have used it and apparently it should only affect the longeavity of the shims. For the hypertune I believe I require 0.3mm increments so not sure how I’ll go with sourcing that.

Appreciate your help :)

Hi Mick,

If you search Engineering Plastics Suppliers you will find many listed around Melbourne. Some also offer machining.
