Do I Need Security on my Phone to Access Bank Accounts ??

Good morning one and all, I would like some advice on accessing Bank accounts on a I Phone.

I have never done this and always use the Computer, which has good security to do my banking stuff.

Do i need security on my Phone to do this as well.:shrug:

Your iphone is secure just pop in your bank number and your password, make sure you never touch links from random sms's or emails saying your account is compromised as that is how they get your bank details.
I use my phone banking all the time. common sense prevails when using it.

What Nik said, and if your bank has a dedicated iPhone app then use that instead of a web browser.

Thank you, yes Nik I get what your saying and even now I never click on any thing that I don't know.
Will check out my bank and see if they have an app for this.

To add to this. Never use public available wifi. Always use trusted home wifi network or cellular data. On Public wifi ppl can see unencrypted data, and the clever ones can spoof banking login page to harvest login credentials when on a shared public network.

Leon, I’ve had a long career in banking. Do not use the internet browser (whether it’s InternetExplorer or Google) on your phone to do your banking. ONLY use your bank’s app. Most people have a few passwords which are used over & over again for various logins. My banking password is unique - I use it only for my banking login and nothing else.

As others have said, never click on a link to access your banking - ONLY use you bank’s app.

Stay safe out there, the scams are getting more sophisticated lately.

Scary stuff Michael, thank you for your suggestions, to one that doesn't know a lot about the modern IPhones and what they can do this is very helpful.

I would not touch banking on any phone with a barge pole. Think worst case scenario, you lose your phone, in the time that it takes to notify your bank, a shady character could empty your account several times over.:eyepop:

Check in settings that VPN is ON. There are security apps that can supposedly ‘enhance’ your Virtual Private Network when you are on public WiFi. Most PC based anti-virus programs now offer packages for mobile security also although I would think most Windows users now simply use Defender.

I’m not sure how effective some of these third party mobile security apps are but that’s not to say they don’t work. Nothing wrong with extra security (and paying for it) provided it works.

How would they do that? you still need to put in your password and account number or have face recognition or thumb print using the app. It's not easy to crack the app in fact extremely difficult
