Im so excited. Tonight I thought Id follow up last nights Ha imaging of the Vela SNR with the mighty 300mm f2.8 lens from Bert, and Houghys equally amazing cooled DSLR, by imaging the same area with my Baader narrowband O3 filter. I then aligned them both, and used the 03 shots as blue and green, and the Ha as red, here is the final result, far better then Id hoped for a first go. And remember, this imagign took place under a near full moon!!
Ha image, 5x15mins ISO400 sensor temp 3 degrees
O3 image 4x15mins ISO400 sensor temp 3 degrees

as they were taken on different nights the alignment wasnt perfect so its not the full field, I cropped off parts that werent covered by both shots.

Thats it, the narrowband imaging bug has well and truly bitten me now :)

Thanks
Heres the O3 image on its own :)
Theres haloes around some bright stars as I didnt have the uv/ir filter in and some IR light got past the O3 filter

Stunning Scott.
Sounds like it's opened up a whole new dimension to your imaging.

If that is the first image I can't wait till you fine tune it. The Vela SNR is very faint and has come up very well. I suspect you can even go deeper but that would be easier with autoguiding.
Great image Scott

PS Richard Crisp suggests blending 20- to 30 % of your H alpha data into your blue channel. In his view this better reflects the mix of H alpha and H beta emission and results in more natural colour

Hi Scot,
nice first effort, I like the blend and the result!.
If your interested, Steve Canistra has a routine to create a synthetic green layer from the Ha and OIII channels...
