NGC 6559 - Lapping at the lagoon

Glad this target's quite popular this season, its a beaut!

Played around with a couple of different colour blendings, but ended up just going with 'ole faithful' cause I think it highlights the contrast differences slightly better.

The narrowband channels PIP'd together, synthetic lum from the nb as well; then some rgb stars screened in. ~22 hrs nb and ~1 hr rgb. Esprit 120/294mm/eq6r.

You have done a pretty good job however :)

With 20hrs data there should be a lot more to see.

If you compare this result with what others have acheived with far less data,
you'll see what I mean.

Just for fun, stack the Ha with red, O3 with Blue, S2 with Green and see what happens.
And pay close attention when stretching (don't over do it).

Lovely pic! It’s a bit of a different perspective compared to the LRGB that’s this is seemingly normally shot in but I think there is some great detail revealed with the extended NB exposure. Full res version is really something!

Agree with Pete it is a fantastic image but I also reckon there is nebulosity you can bring out on the fringes for sure

Thanks David! I was rather pleased with the detail and 'depth' I seemed to be able to pull out of the central region, even with 7nm filters!

Appreciate the feedback Pete and Nik! Do you mean the background nebulosity on the right hand side of the frame? If so, I must concede that was deliberate.
That faint background glow around the dark nebula away from the main POI mainly only showed strongly in the Sii channel and my toying with the curves to bring it up carried through the residual background glow I had in the Oiii channel. Yes, this was post multi-round DBE :P
There being so much background nebulosity in this patch of sky, and me also wanting at least some 'black' space framing the POI I opted to sacrifice background contrast for foreground. I'm a bit of fiend for perceived depth in astro photos and this always fuels my processing decisions.
