Hi,

Another part of the deceased estate I'm selling. This is a Daystar Quantum SE 0.6Angstrom solar H-alpha filter with 12V 2A power supply, with fittings for a Celestron 5. A C5 is offered if you don't have your own, but I was hoping to hang on to this C5.

I've finally had clear sky to check this filter out and can say it works fine. The 0.6A bandpass giving good views of both prominences as well as surface features. I felt the view though this was limited by the 40mm aperture of the off-axis ERF that is required for this type of filter (to achieve f/30) and one might be able to make much better use of it with a larger telescope.

Daystar seem to have changed their product line-up since this filter was purchased as they now only quote 2 versions of the SE - one for prominences (US$5195) and one for chromosphere (US$8995) with no mention of bandpass. The brochure that is with this filter showed SE versions from 0.7A through to 0.3A bandpass. This filter would equate to the current chromosphere version.

The filter is set up for SCT use as it has SCT threaded fittings on both the input and output sides. There is also a 1.9degree wedge plate which is required to counter the off-axis nature of using it with an SCT. Included is a C5 off-axis ERF.

If you already have a C5 then just get the filter and I'll keep the C5. If you want to get the filter but modify it for use on a larger telescope then that is also great. If you want to buy the system with the C5 then that is possible too.

The pictures show the C5 and filter mounted on my iOptron MiniTower (not included) using my SCT diagonal (not included) with a 32mm TeleVue Plossl (included if you want the C5).

If you want the C5, it also comes with a full-aperture solar filter, 1.25-inch visual back and Celestron prism diagonal and T-thread camera adaptor. Also the original fork mount, but has been used de-forked with home-made adaptors for both Vixen and Losmandy dovetails.

Price? Make me an offer. It's worth a lot, but I've always thought these filters overpriced. I'm selling the items from this estate with the idea that I'd rather see them used than sitting gathering dust. I don't need them as I have my own well-stocked observatory. Spin me a sob story and make me a low offer - I may just accept it.

PMs please with offer or questions.
