Anyone suffer from the intense pain from Tennis Elbow (Epicondylitis). Do those Elbow Brace Support work in treating the condition?
Since all my Astro gear is portable it is now impossible to lift a cup of coffee so setting up a mount and lifting an OTA is not going to happen.

Hans,
I tore my tendon in my elbow some two years ago…They said it was golf elbow…don’t play golf!!!
Anyway nothing has worked, still with me and Panadol every four hours…..
Such is life!!!

Suffered for 6 to 8 months with TE on my left arm in my early 40’s ( I’m 62 now )
Doctor advised a cortisone injection may or may not work
I could handle the relentless pain and restricted use of my arm
Had 2 injections 6 weeks apart and it eventually got better
I have never had another bout of TE since
One of the lucky ones I suppose

Hi Hans,
Sorry to hear of your injury pain. Hopefully it will reduce with time and rest, but in the meantime you could try some Voltaren Emugel applied to the skin in the area to reduce the pain and inflammation. Also helpful is a compression sleeve, cold packs to reduce inflammation and/or even heat to improve circulation. Whatever works.
Get well soon
Best

Hi Hans,
I suffer from the same thing from time to time. Mostly because of kind of work a do and lifting weights (bodybuilding). I have great respect for Athlean-x on YouTube. Simply because I am Physical Education teacher myself and know quite a bit about human body. This guy is very good and his videos might be helpful for you too.

Don’t be confused that those videos are about lifting weights or about people who have sports injuries. The fact is tennis elbow and many other injuries are caused from overuse or weak muscle, tendon or ligament. Instead of “masking” pain with cortisol injections or rubbing various creams the best and most of the time permanent fix is to make it stronger.
Cheers

Athlean-X is amazing. Been watching his videos for a few years, he's great.
Bob's right in that the long term fix is an improvement to the muscle itself, but don't discard those short term fixes either.

I agree with bob about this also.
Having had both tennis elbow and a partial tear in the distal bicep tendon previously (gym also). Having a routine of regular active rehabilitation is key to getting better.
A combination of gradual increase in difficulty (within pain tolerances) of the exercises, nightly massaging of the forearm muscles (tennis ball works great ironincally) and icing the area of pain. I used adjustable hand strength grips to strengthen the forearm muscles.
But be patient with the rehab. It can take 3 or more months to completely regain full strength without pain. As for the elbow brace, yes they can help with the pain and support the muscles when getting things done, but I would concentrate on the rehab for the actual recovery.

I had a TE (technically was a golf elbow, but similar problem) a few years ago in my early 40s from too much wood chopping.
I went to the physio who gave me some stretching exercises and I was wearing an elbow brace when doing physical labour. I got plenty rehab massages and treatment from the physio, too.
I haven't had it for nearly two years now. Key is to take it easy, stretch and wear a brace. If you overuse your elbow again, which I did many times, it just keeps coming back or gets worse. It took months to make it better.
Oh, a hydraulic wood splitter is a good idea :)

Thanks all for your input and suggestions . I have a booking for the area to be X-Rayed and Ultrasound.

Cortisone worked for my shoulder when I was younger.
I’ve had tendinitis I’m my elbow, recommended doses of fish oil and glucosamine cleared it up . Took a few months. Makes your nails go hard as well ! Worth at try
