For sale is an A Jaegers 6 inch f/5 air spaced doublet refractor.
Purchased from an IIS member in 2016. It includes a very smooth Dobsonian style alt-az mount. Perfect for sweeping the Milky Way which is exactly where this scope execls. Just add a tripod and some counterweights in the front part of the mount to balance the weight of the scope and it's ready to go.
- lens has some dust and coating blemishes that don't affect the views
- homemade tube and lens cell
- GSO 2 inch, 2 speed Crayford focuser
- plywood rings and mount
- teflon and formica bearings on both mount axes
- removable adapter that I added to mount to a photographic tripod - uses a 3/8 inch T-nut
- GSO 2 inch diagonal - has a small blemish on the mirror
- Rigel Quick Finder
- Custom packing made from glued sheets of building foam. Unfortunately a flood incident destroyed the custom carton that fit around the packing foam.
Tripod is not included in the price.
One issue that will need attention is that the rings are friction fit with felt. This is actually handy for getting the correct balance with different eyepieces, but it's starting to slip with the scope pointed at zenith.
$500. I'd prefer not to ship but I could travel 100kms or so to meet someone.
