This is an image of a large HII region in the eastern part of Sagittarius lying to the north east of the Lagoon Nebula. I've been acquiring this over many nights over the last several weeks. There's been a couple of images of the same region posted recently. Peter recently posted a wide field image (https://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=199072) of the same region after moving his scope around a bit. A little before that post I found the same region by moving Stellarium around a bit and thought it would make a good pic. This is 11 hours of HaLRGB subs from a 10" f/5 Newtonian and ASI1600mm. A bigger version with acquisition details is on Astrobin (https://www.astrobin.com/full/zine45/0/).

Great image Kevin - I think HaLRGB suits this object perfectly.

Wow Kevin, a spectacular result!

I reckon one of the best around.

Don't know if you use Pixisight, but I would pass over the ACDNR process.
Reduce the amount to about 0.5 (default is 0.9). Use a small preview for testing.
Done at the non linear stage, it smudges the noise.

Like it heaps

Kevin,
Wow what an image, detail is incredible and colour is spot on
Definitely a broadband target
I tried this one last Winter with my OSC and L Extreme and was a complete mess
It’s on my list for my new 10” ,this time in broadband

Well done !!

Thanks for the comments guys. I do use Pixinsight, Peter. I did some wavelet noise reduction while the image was linear but didn't do any more after it was stretched because I didn't want to lose sharpness. I've just tried your suggestion of gentle ACDNR and like you said, it smudged the noise (without losing any detail). Good tip thanks!

A little surprised you haven't had more feedback on this Kev.

It's an excellent image, it just has a pronounced green cast. I played with it (in PS) and once that's removed and you tweak the contrast a bit, it's a stunner! Suggest you have a bit of a play with it too.

By the way, your Ha blend is excellent!

Thanks Marcus,

I'm away from home at the moment but when I get back I'll certainly tweak the image like you suggest. I must admit, it's an image I'm really pleased with. I'll post the new version when finished.

Cheers, Kevin

Beautiful delicate image. The Ha really helps resolve some of those folds and brings out that crazy red patch on the right.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. As suggested by Marcus, here is a revision with reduced green and increased contrast with a new version on Astrobin (https://www.astrobin.com/full/zine45/D/)....
