NEQ6 Pro Belt & NEQ6 Zero Backlash Worm Mount

Hi guys

So, I've done both these mods on an old EQ6 Pro and over all a better performance in RA guiding numbers by at least 50% I would say.....PE still high at 30" which I would expect.

But, I'm now seeing the RA in what seems like faster than sidereal rate tracking.....anyone done both these mods or have any ideas what might be causing this?

Ok so after some researching looks like I have to change the gear ratio in EQMOD through custom mount setup to 4:1 because of the belt mod.......testing tonight.

3.92:1 is the ratio I use on my mount, with hand controller or Eqmod

Many thanks Peter....the 4:1 doesn't seem right either....don't know how to initiate the 3.92:1 ratio into eqmod but I'll see what I can find out.

Changing the settings in EQMOD is pretty simple once you calculate the figures you need. Start EQMOD Toolbox & click on the "Driver Setup" button. That opens the settings screen. In the top left corner change it from "Auto Detect" to "Custom" then click the spanner icon that appears. That opens the box for the ratio settings. Now you just need to calculate the correct data to enters. The bottom half of this page details how to do that.

Sorry to butt into your thread but it’s sparked a thought with me. I did a Rowan belt mon on a HEQ5 last year but assumed that there was no need tomadjust these ratios. Do I have that right?

Your still on subject Pete so all good.....I'd read that too at first, and then after testing I found that the RA was running slow I think? and then after researching a bit more people were saying to change the ratio through EQMOD from 47:12 to 4:1 and then I think It run a bit fast....or visa versa.

So, I'll look into the latest info the guys here have given me when I get around to It.

According to the Rowan doco, the pulley ratio matches the gear ratio, so I believe no adjustments are required.
