Get the part number, source it back to a nema14/17?
then work out the upgrade from there, just make sure the dimensions and fittings will align...

I don't have an EQ6 but why do you think that the problem is the motors? Could actually be the stepper drivers - these have a big impact on performance. These would probably be difficult to swap out.

If you need replacement steppers I believe the model number is 17HS15-0854S. There isn't really an "upgrade" just higher quality perhaps as they are all standardised. I find the ones from stepper online are pretty good.

Thx for your thoughts,
Lets assume for a moment, that the Neq6 pro and the Eq6s pro, are exactly the same, with the exception of the motor driver boards
Would, replacing the motor board, with the same as the EQ6-R Pro,
would the newer one drive the motors smoother / better, than the old board?
just seeing what is the better option,
Cheers Peter
Hi Peter,
What concerns you about your NEQ6 pro mount's performance enough to consider swapping motors, drive electronics etc? Do you have any reason / test results that cause you to suspect 1. poor tracking or 2. poor guiding perfomance?
Otherwise it might be a case of : If it ain't broke .... ... ... This would especially be so if the total rms guiding error of your mount is say <= 0.7 arc seconds or better.

Hi Thx for your reply,
The current setup when slewing is extremely noisy I first looked at replacing motors, then I was advised that it could be the drivers used in the old version
and have heard reports that the new upgraded version drives super quiet.
As well as the older one suffers with under voltage problem.
But that isnt a major concern.
Cheers Peter
The NEQ6 uses straight cut spur gears in the drive system, whereas the EQ6-R uses a belt drive system, that is why the NEQ6 can seem noisy when slewing, in comparison to the EQ6-R, not because of any motor differences.
There are kits one can fit/have fitted to the NEQ6 to turn it in to a belt drive mount, which would be substantially quieter. The smooth drive due to the belt drive could potentially (no guarantee) also improve tracking accuracy and hence guiding results, which would be more noticeable (and beneficial) at very extreme image scales.

Have you updated the firmware on the control board? I have heard major differences between versions. There will always be some noise though even my belt driven AZEQ6 makes motor noise when slewing.

Thx for the input guys, I will take it on board
