NGC 2264 - Cone Nebula et al.

My take on this well imaged area in Monoceros. Approximately 18 hours of data (HaRGB) captured from December through to February this year. Managed to get on to the object early enough in the season such that I was able to catch enough data in between breaks in the clouds :cloudy: The Tak TSA120/QSI683 combination provides a field of view of about 1.5 degrees which I think works well with this object. It provides some breathing room around the core nebula showing the extend Ha areas. A fascinating area with lots of busy stuff going on and many popular imaging targets including the Cone Nebula, Christmas Tree cluster and Fox Fur nebula.

Beautiful shot Rod, actually we don't see many images of this region by us southerners, so it's a refreshing view and nicely handled, so colourful, thanks for the view. As you know, from an imaging perspective, I have been living vicariously through guys like you for over a year now, so thanks again for the pleasant views :)...soon I will join the fray again :D :thumbsup:

Thanks Mike, at +9d DEC it is a tad northerly which does limit the available time in the season to grab data. Makes it important to get on to the object as early as possible in the season.

I am sure that I speak for others in being more than happy to continue supplying images to satisfy your needs whilst your new build is progressing. It is a pay off both ways because we get to share in the excitement of watching the Eagleview observatory come into fruition, emerging from a blank landscape into the highest observatory in Oz. We cannot be too far away from first light by the looks of things.

Thanks Ray. I do find that I'm dedicating lots of exposure time more so these days. Clearly this is easier with an automated set up. One thing that it does do is make processing much easier as the noise levels are much easier to handle.
