I see Roland has added a new APO to his product line. Possibly a limited production

Very interesting Hans. Looks like another superb telescope from AP. You never know your luck.

He should be making petzvals. Triplets + flatterers are old school. I know I know, got to consider the visual crowd as well…

Opinion masquerading as fact?
if seven degrees of freedom (triplet plus quad corrector) is "old school"
then Quad petzval must be in the Jurassic. ;)

So what does that make the FSQ-130ED ... Triassic?

And Petsvals have seen their limitations exposed with the small pixelled cameras.
Read the many posts on Cloudynights about FSQ106EDX's showing coma and false colour in the outer regions and Tak are saying they are within spec.
Tak stopped making FSQ130's. No reason given but I assume too hard to make in volume and cost too much. Or perhaps flaws were showing up. Don't know.
I have seen some nice FSQ130 images though. But not $22,000 nice.
FSQ106EDX needs an optical update as its now a 15year old scope and new cameras are pushing it past it's limits.
Greg.

No. Opinion out in the open as an opinion

I don't know about petzvals or astro imaging. AP have been making f6 triplets for over thirty years. I have no doubt that whatever telescope they decide to make it will be well received and in high demand. It is wonderful that Roland still wants to be hands on in the telescope business. Good luck to everyone in the draw when it is announced.
