Hi all,
I received a magical email inviting me here, not sure where it came from but I'm glad. What a great site for aussie astronomy!
I plan to have a good look around soon. But in the meantime, here is my first offering,
As well as the odd galaxy shot I have been concentrating on emission nebula images, combining long-exposure Hydrogen-alpha with RGB to get detailed colour images.
This is one I completed recently of the carina nebulae NGC3603 (left)and NGC3576 (right). These two nebula appear to be one, but 3603 is almost twice as far away as 3576.
More information and larger version are available here

and questions are welcomed.

Thanks Mike,
Not really a web designer, only my own. But I am a programmer and write the site code myself. It's all Html, CSS and javascript written with a text editor.

You can post your gear this thread (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=65) in the Equipment forum..
re web page, sounds like me.. my first webpages (for my gaming clan) were hand-coded in html in a text editor :)

Thanks Mike, will post my gear to the gear forum soon. I was just checking out some of the great equipment there. I really like the look of the Royce, but the poor old mount looks like it wants mercy!
Alex..Thanks! Sounds like you have a great job :) I will post more images, slowly. I have a lot of them, but have to resample them down to a postable size.

Great idea alex :)
Mark Hodson lives up your way, there's a lot of brisbanites from the forum that get together regularly for some observing.. i'm sure they'd love you to join them.

I always like meeting new like-minded fanatics. I am a defacto member of the SAS and always spend the entire week at the QLD Astrofest. Really looking forward to it again this year. For the last six years (7 maybe..), I take all of my gear up there and camp for the week. It's great to catch up with people I only see once a year and spend the entire week doing nothing else..
If Mark and his crew heads to Astrofest this year I might catch up with them then.

Thanks Louie. It's great to be here! Nice sign :)
This is a really great forum. I can see me spending a lot of time here while waiting for images to download. This weekend is looking good if the forecasts and current weather are any indication.

Hi Houghy
It will be good to see you there. If you bring the Meade, be sure to set up in Meade Mesa. We have Vixen Valley, Celestron County, Takahashi Terrain, Dobsonian Dale and Photography Paddock and woe betide anyone who sets up in the wrong camp :-)
Cheers

Hi Dave, David, Houghy and Phil
Sorry to reply so late, it's been a busy weekend and week so far.
Houghy, I'll be there from Monday to Sunday as well. Look forward to seeing you there. If I get there first you might have to go looking for me, I have a secret location in none of the spots Dennis mentioned :)
Thanks to all for your most hospitable greetings!

Eddie a little clue, my name is also David!
Can you PM me where you set up. Also in the PM can you let me know what the Queensland SP is like, facilities and how to get there. Coming from Newcastle area in NSW what would be the best way to get there?
