View Full Version here: : Scorpius with the Nifty Fifty
Last week, during our monthly DSO viewing session. A good hour on my favorite constellation. Thought I might try the ol' EF50 with a front mounted astro filter using a step down ring. Let's just say that arrangement came with a host of issues, but it worked for its intended purpose, a snap to take home.

Very nice! The dark of the dust clouds contrasts really well with the red of the nebulae. Makes me think of a furnace with a glowing fire inside it.
Cheers,

That's a SUPER image Mirko :thumbsup: ....and given its quality, I think, really belongs in the Main (Deep Space) forum
It too is one of my favourites and I really like how you've framed it with the Milky Way Arm vertical.

Thanks guys for your kind words. I'm reasonably happy with the dark nebulosity and how the MW appears to glow from behind it; stars less so. I'll revisit this area with a bigger effort and different equipment in the future.
