I am down the NSW South Coast at the moment.
Almost every time I am here I notice the seeing is extremely good.

Last night I went to a spectacular lookout spot I had picked a year ago as being a great location for a nightscape.

Drove down a completely pot holed dirt road and went to set up only to realise a I’d left a vital power cable back in the unit! Grrrr

Undeterred I took untracked nightscapes like I used to before all these tracker units.

A sublime sky, virtually no cloud, no moon, very dark and very scenic.
Downloads looked sensational.

Packed up and went back to the unit. Got the cable. My wife suggested I go back and photograph it again and not take the clear skies for granted.

Bless her. I reshot the nightscape with the tracker and sure enough cloud started to slowly move in. I got me sequence though.

This morning shows it rained overnight, its completely overcast and forecast is for showers tonight.

Moral of the story is to take advantage of clear skies and don’t assume they will be there the next day which Has caught me out before.

Glad to hear you had some excellent skies down south
What area of the South Coast ?
I’m still in Sydney until mid to late June then heading down to my Dome
Last night was clear but the dew was ridiculous, didn’t both setting up
Tonight , Sunday night and later next week in Sydney look promising, westerly winds, no moon and no bloody dew

That is a good story Greg. The clear skies are so few and far between at the moment that we must grasp every opportunity. Otherwise all those photons will go crashing to earth. What a waste :confused2::D

Hehe yes that too.

It was good luck. There were a couple of storm cells with lightning going off regularly out to sea. I was hoping to catch a sprite.

I'll have them up and running ina few days.

Greg.

Perfect for me and managed 13 subs at 46 seconds.
The rest were all cloud. But something is better than nothing.
