:hi: all we have a similar situation as last month, with the weekend of the 12th-13, the moon rises at 02;02 on Sunday morning the 13th.
The following weekend the 19th-20th the Moon does not set till 20:20 on Saturday night the 19th.
If you remember last month the 14th April was the better night of the two dark nights and nobody turned up:shrug:
I will be here at the moment for both weekends, but as usual indicate which date is preferable to you:thumbsup: Ron

I'm going to aim for the 12th Ron but keep a spot for me on the 19th in case of bad weather. I need to get away for the night soon or i'll go mad.
Cheers, Dennis.

Ron I don't know if I can make it this month or not, but I am trying very, very hard! My roster says I'm working from 3 to 11 pm both days next weekend but I'm trying to organise a shift swap to free me up for some viewing Saturday night.
Not looking good so far, but I'll let you know. Might ring you in the next day or so anyway for a chinwag. :)
Jeanette I'm keen to see that Gstar cam in action, hopefuly we'll catch up sometime soon .... and stop picking on Dennis! Insanity is a hard enough thing to bare already.

Thanks to these fine showers and rain we have had here last night and tonight I won't be able to make it next week AGAIN :mad2: I have had to postpone commitments from last night and tonight through to next weekend. And I definately won't be able to make it next month, already booked out. :ashamed:
Sorry guys.

On again, off again, sheesh, Sorry Ron, I wont be coming Saturday now, my wife informs me she has a function in Brisbane to attend that I forgot about so I get to stay home and look after our daughter. That doesnt mean I wont spend the night under the stars though, I'll have my gear setup on the back deck viewing regardless.
Hopefully next month. Cheers.

That's a shame Dennis ... don't suppose you can get away with bringing your daughter along somehow for an educational nights viewing ;)
My mate Gavin looks likely to come along again too Ron, he's free this weekend and keen for some dark sky viewing again. We'll all be heading home however, not staying over - Sunday is Joy's birthday and I have got her wondering so much about what her top-secret birthday present is. You know women when there's a secret and they don't know what it is - if I don't finally let the cat out of the bag first thing in the morning she's likely to implode, explode, transplode, etc. Could be bad for my health.
Anyway - as everyone has said fingers crossed for the weather!

Damn sorry to hear about your car, that's a bummer!
Cloudless skies here at Caloundra folks - despite what some weather sites are saying it's a beautiful day, and I'm sure we have a great night ahead.
Just starting to pack the car now Ron, should see you by 4:30.
(of course it doesn't matter what time I say Ron as you well know, someone or something manages to hold me up and I'm later than planned)
:-)

What a TOP night I had last night! I drove out to Ron's through solid cloud praying for clear skies. :prey:
Once I got there at 6:30 the clouds moved on and showed great skies!
The clouds however came back shortly and we spent the night till midnight having good longish periods of great veiwing with clouds here and there for short periods. :cloudy: Until at Midnight when thick cloud moved in.
I had what was probably my best nights viewing ever! I took in many galaxies I had never seen before and as well as some new clusters. Eta Carina nebula looked amazing, and even more spectacular with Steve's new (Ultra Block?) filter. Jupiter showed more detail lastnight than many had ever seen, and personally I was blown away by the incredible detail and interesting position of the moons.
I met a few people new to me, and was welcomed to share some nice views through other's scopes.
I also got to see Jenette's GSTAR in action which was awesome.
I was very pleased with my scope, which after a few recent mods, performed very well!
Many thanks to Ron for his hospitality and also to Steve for the loan of a few bits and EP's :) .

Glad you guys had a good night.
I have a mechanic living across the road, when he got home at 6pm last night we tried to find out what was wrong with the car.
You would not believe it, but all it was was a simple fuse blown.
Cars, if we didn't need them who would own one... LOL:rofl:
Again glad to hear you had a great night, heres hoping and praying for the next one..... Knock on wood.....
