Can anyone help me. I am looking to drive my dome. I have all the electronics to do it but need help to find a 12V motor drive to drive the dome. Does anyone no of a Australian dealer that sell 12v motors forward and rev. that would be good for a drive for the dome.
Thanks
Phil

Easy,

Any windscreen wiper motor from an old car at your nearest wreckers, 12VDc will work in reverse polarity. Heaps of torque, commonly used for domes and cheap as chips.

Thanks for that. Went to the wrecker and got 2 moter $22 each. They have heaps of torque. Two speeds and forward and reverse. Anyone intested in a motor i seguest they do the same thing. Just great.
Thanks again Nightshift.

We use these types at work to drive roller doors, they have tons of grunt and can be run on 24v if needed.

Super Ceap Auto offer 12 vlt winches that one would fit to a 4wd.
I got one to move my roll off shed.
They have forward and reverse, mounting bracket, forward and reverse control hand paddle, a length of cable, and the leads to connect to the power supply. New I paid $150..they had them at $130 but I missed the sale unfortunately.
I cant recall their power but I can sit in the shed whilst it gets dragged along:D .

LOL!!! Now theres a sight to see.... Good idea there Alex, everything in one package. Would be easy to setup a cable system.

Well the first time out the cable wound around the hub rather than the unit "passing" along. The dam thing pulled the anchor point out of the cement and I got in a terrible mess.
AND being able to move in and out of the shed and not effect its progress is very practical really when you are putting things away.. as you can move in and out of it with out a problem.

My neighbour looked at it and joined the ranks who think I am a fool ..but a majority is a majority even with the addition of another voter.

The roll off shed has many advantages the only disadvantage being its easy movement (for a fella with a hernia) but the motor takes care of that, you have a snug control room without a scope in the middle and you dont have to worry of moving a dome to follow an object.

The cost was very reasonable even with the flash motor...far less than a dome.. an it when closed does not telegraph to the world it may contains expensive gear.
I see it as a great solution for suburbia not withstanding I am in the bush (up there).
