First go at a mosaic! The pixinsight merge by coordinates script approach makes it so painless!
NGC 3247 (Whirling Dervish) and NGC 3199 (Banana) nebulas in Carina captured in a two panel mosaic, in HOO.
Caught on:
Esprit 120
294mm w/ opto 7nm filters
5 min subs, 120g, 30off
pre with dss and post in pix
12hrs 45m in all

Top capture Adam ,I would be happy if my first mosaic turned out that well. For some reason I am yet to attempt one. Might be my next mission when these clouds disappear .

Gee, what a great shot Adam and quite deep. A unique view really, I haven't seen this field framed like that before, nice. Has made a kinda normally almost boring target, shift up a few gears to an intriguing image, seeing the full bubble of 3199 is always pretty cool, great job.
Tiiiiiny nit pick....if you were to back off on the noise reduction, particularly in the more vacant areas of the image it would be even better I recon but this is only an if you could be bothered suggestion  :)

Many thanks guys!
Kuz, def give it a go! One thing I learned from this first go though is that frame rotation has a big impact on the real estate you're left with to merge. Would def be more anal about polar alignment and potentially even rotating camera between panels to ensure you get as much left to cut together.
Mike thanks for your kind words and fair call on the noise reduction. tiny bit plastic-y ill admit, though slightly less so on the non-200kb atrocity on the bin link :) My cheap 6.5nm Oiii filter and low integration times forced my hand, that and I am really enjoying playing with Russell Croman's new NoiseXTerminator plugin :) The field framing was borne out of necessity and inexperience more than anything :P I actually wanted to just do the banana, but seeing this other guy just out of frame made me give the mosaic a go. my inexperience was not accounting for field rotation enough. lost more on the vertical axis than i wouldve liked!
