It's getting that time again..

The CWAS AstroFest "David Malin Awards" are almost upon us.. a bit over a month to go to get your entries in.

Last year saw some fantastic entries and winners.. you can read/see them here (http://www.parkes.atnf.csiro.au/events/astrofest/awards/).

I'd like to take a trip out to Parkes for the event this year.. I've never been to "the dish" and would love to see it!

Hi Mike,

John Sarkissian, CSIRO and CWAS graciously accomodated Mai and I there over
a memorable weekend in Oct 2005. You are in for a treat.

Good luck to everyone with their photos.

Best Regards

It was great catching up with John Sarkissian at SPSP last month, observing through Rod's 20" SDM. John was like a kid in a candy store. He had some delightful views.

I hope to catch up with him at CWAS.

I'm hoping to go, but i'm not sure yet. I've gotta get my entries in soon!

It's too far for a daytrip so I'll have to figure out accommodation too.

I'm definitely going. I've told my wife Kate and they'll probably come along too. I had to invite them along - gave me more chance of getting out there :)

I'm not sure i'll register for the conference as I'll probably spend the time sight-seeing with my family. I'd love to attend the presentation of the David Malin Awards though.

Speaking of which, my entries were sent yesterday :prey: Hope Australia Post don't lose them! ;)

Alright we're booked in.

Staying Saturday night in Parkes and Sunday night at Dubbo. We'll go visit the Western Plains Zoo on Sunday/Monday. We're a zoo-friend at Tarango, so can get in to Dubbo Zoo for free as well!

I'll be at the CWAS Astrofest for the presentations on Saturday arvo and hopefully one of the talks on Sunday morning.

Only a few days to go!

Who else is heading out there this weekend?

It'd be great to catch up with some fellow IIS'ers.
