GDay all.
My youngest (30) views with me when clear. Today he showed me his new scope a Founder Optics 106mm. One nice scope. We are both newbs. Now he requires a mount for viewing only, but I can see him placing a camera on this scope...
I have seen him looking at the SWHEQ5. Apparently he is sticking his new scope on my AZEQ6....
What sort of mount should he look at? Im useless as I use a 10"newt on a goto.
Thoughts thanks.

Have a look at the AZ-EQ5. I ordered one from Astro Pete's/Anarchy yesterday. I have a 102mm F7 triplet & 8" SCT I will be using with it for both visual & imaging. Some of the reasons why I went this way and paid the extra over the HEQ5?
- slight increase in payload (15kg in EQ mode)
- belt drive, no belt mod needed
- EQ mode for general DSO imaging
- Alt/Az mode for quick visual setup & planetary imaging
- 2 x 15kg payload in Alt/Az mode, will easily handle both my scopes
- lighter weight head, good for portability & my bad back
Basically a lightweight version of your AZ-EQ6. I think it's a great, lighter weight option for just visual with the ability to be a good DSO imaging mount.
Cheers,
Mark

There is an old saying " buy the best mount you can afford". They are long term investments. Scopes tend to come and go, but people hold onto a good mount. If you anticipate imaging at some point, consider stepping up in capacity.

Get a used HEQ5 (white) or NEQ6 Pro (white) as you probs don’t need the alt-az option?

Mark, is the one you purchased? What are your thoughts after using for a few months? Cheers Steve
