I noticed last night that there is now a small graphic in the bottom left corner of the screen which contains a rough diagram of the S/Cross and the 2 pointers. When pressed, it has a bit of a think and then puts up an image of whatever you just imaged and overlays it with a colour img of the same area of sky in 2 squares red and green. I imagine it is some sort of framing guide but I can’t find anything about it anywhere. Anyone figured it out yet?

Peter.

Asiair Sky Atlas.

It's a new function which has multiple uses.

If you are familiar with Stellarium, Kstars or such
for a goto for your mount, it works similarly.

It will also allow for framing purposes.

There will be two boxes appear on screen.

One red, one blue.

One shows current placement of your image
train and FOV based on your setup.

The other shows your intended positioning.

It also shows your camera rotation.

This allows for very easy framing of your target/s.

Just drag the FOV box over your target and click go.

You can use the FOV box to frame the target in any
position you desire, not just bang on center.

Thats a simple overview of the new function.

Works a treat.

Basically....touch and go !!!

Man I love this unit. If only someone smarter could get different cameras to work on it. Or would just like it if ZWO released an API for other devs to target

Yes it’s very good. I’ve only just used the new release a couple times and there is also a new experimental feature that improves platesolving. One thing I’ve seen as a big advantage on top of the responses already below is I’ve found the platesolving at longer focal lengths is much better in the atlas.

Just beware if you are into short exposure eaa livestacking. There is a glitch I’ve found that seems to cause excessive processing time to stack a live view image, so much so that for short exposures it gets into a stack/process loop and never displays an image. Anyone else found this?

the atlas is pretty slick. I like it. For simple navigation it could easily replace sky safari for me.
