I finally got some images from Wiruna after a long break, although there was a lot of fun and games getting things going--focuser wouldn't connect to computer, battery failure--but no problem is insoluble so I finally managed to get some reasonable data after thinking that I might have to spend the night drinking red wine.

There are not many images of this galaxy. It is quite a difficult object to process. Bringing out the faint halo while not blowing out the stars or brighter parts of the galaxy required some careful masking.

Very fine Geoff. Off the beaten cliche.

Very nice Geoff, all sparkly.

There is a bit of excess green in the background that would clean up easily with PI.'s SCNR.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. I'll give it a go. I often overlook a green cast.

Gosh I missed this. This is absolutely beautiful! Not a galaxy I've come across, but it's stunning. Thanks for sharing this one, Geoff.

in addition, there's so much to look at here... and your processing is top notch (minus any green!). Really wonderful image.
