Hi all,

apologies for my absence - the non-stop rain has made it hard to feel enthused about astronomy but I managed to make some progress on my setup and finally captured some photons with it during that brief window of good weather last week. :stargaze:

Sometime back during the last few months of dismal weather, I acquired an Antila Dual-Band filter (Ha & OIII) which is obviously a competitor to filters like the L-Extreme. It's a bit more expensive but according to Antila it doesn't suffer from halos around bright stars and can work well with faster f-ratios.

This is my first attempt at a HOO image so the processing was a bit of a learning curve, but I'm pleased with what I was able to capture through Bortle 7 skies. I did plan on capturing some RGB too but the clouds arrived to kybosh that idea.

72 dithered 90 sec subs with a ZWO 2600MC captured in NINA through the MN190. I chose Eta Carinae as it's a nice bright target for a test image that was relatively high in the sky.

C & C welcome as always. :)

Nice work! :)
So this is a one-shot cam with a dual-band filter?
Impressive result!

Thanks Andy,

Yes that's right. I believe both bands are 5nm.

thats funny, a 1st light with a one shot?. We mortals take months to get a 1st light like this. Very well done, bodes well for a second shot let alone after that :P

Thanks Fred,

Yes the OSC with a multi-band filter is a bit of a convenient shortcut (at the expense of some resolution no doubt) but seems to still give pleasing results.

I'm not sure anyone who completes 100-odd hours of integration on a single target could be described as a 'mere mortal'.
