Just been reading some of the reports from the transit in Nov 2006 and remembered observing the transit of 2004 from the 9th floor of the Bunbury Tower. I took the 60mm refractor up in the lift and set it up looking out the window with a piece of A4 behind it for a projection screen. Passed the word around the office and had quite a few come up for a look. Heres one of the pics I took of the projection.Gee, it was great having an understanding boss :)

Great shot Glenhoun, I am thinking that was the transit of Venus you observed and imaged mate :)
much grander than a mere mercury transit imo :)

Nice one Glenhoun.. I had a similar experience for the Transit of Venus in 2004.. 11x70 binoculars pointed at the sun, with a piece of white card behind them. I took a picture of the card with a 2mp digital camera and got results similar to yours :)

The Transit of Mercury last year was great fun.. definitely a big lead-up, but a bit of a fizzer on the day with clouds and windy conditions making imaging and observing it very difficult.

Still was a great event, and great to see the images and read the reports on the forum. I'm looking forward to Venus in 2012!

transit of mercury 2006 to me will always read "7 Hours standing in paddock for 1 photo through clouds...."

But it came out ok!

Great shot of the Venus one though!
AWESOME!

2012!!
**Transit Of Venus
**Total Solar Eclipse
**Partial Lunar Eclipse
And i understand one of the biggest Solar Maximum events predicted around 2010 and 2012....OOOHHHH i'd love to catch some Southern Aurora which i've never seen before!

As Bill Lawry would say "ITS ALL HAPPENING!"

Cheers!
