Hello all,

I've been doing astro for a couple of years and a member of the ASV for one. The Melbourne lockdowns made it rather difficult to get anywhere dark, unfortunately...

I managed to get up to the ASV's dark-sky site last July and captured some images that I feel are good enough to share. I still have a long way to go when it comes to capturing good subs, and further to travel with regards to doing all the post-processing.

These three were captured with my Nikon DSLR and either a 14mm or 90mm lens. Mount is a Star Adventurer 2.

We have the Galactic Core to the east (14mm), a chunk of the Galactic Core with the Cat's Paw nebula (90mm) and what I call Scorpio's Heart - Rho Ophiuchi (90mm).

Cheers,
V

(I've had to really shrink and compress the images, so my apologies if they don't look so good here.)

Welcome Steve to the forum.
These widefield images show a rich field of stars and many nebs hidden in amongst the vastness. Dust lanes within Rho are quite prominent - nice collection from the trusty DSLR.
Well done!
Anthony

Thanks Anthony!

I have a 'scope on the way, so hopefully I can really lift my game.
