First light for the new Ioptron CEM 70G with Voyager! :D

Picked up a bargain on a near new CEM 70 - still under warranty, only driven on Sundays by a little old lady etc.

Hooked it all up to Voyager via an intel NUC and Pegasus ultimate powerbox.

The Big Tak TOA 130 rides very happily on top of the Ioptron, and guiding using the 121mm FL built in iGuider was under .4 arc sec p/p! Astounding! :eyepop:

This classic target IC 2944 aka 'the Running Chicken Nebula', seemed a good one for a quick hit out, so 6 hrs Ha, 6 hrs O3, 4 hrs S2 and 40mins RG&B from the burbs here in light pollutionville, Melbourne.

Is it just my recent indulgence in slow cooking or does it not resemble a smokin' Weber BBQ on wheels?

Looking forward to doing more imaging with this fine combination!

PS: Big thanks to my astro buddy Paul for all his help with the install & getting it all going smoothly. :thanx:

It's Lovely Andy and the colour contrast between the orange and blue give it that door-to-another-world vibe.:thumbsup:

Great image Andy, love the colours and smoothness. It seems wide for a 130 is that due to your camera's field of view?

Cheers mate, this is another target that always delivers something new each time one images it. Reckon this is my 5th visit - using different gear each time :)

Hey thanks Nik - there's an expensive 0.7 Tak TOA-35 reducer in the train that brings the native f 7.7 @ 1000mm FL back down to f 5.3 @ 691mm FL, and yes the camera is APS-H format so my FOV is 2.23 x 1.78 degrees.

Gee, great shot of that Weber, lovely colour contrast

Did you do that chicken on the Weber, or in normal astro processing software?

Seriously, what a fabulous rig you have there (even without the timeless NJP anymore ), and it produces the goods, that's for sure

Another chicken ...but at least it is a really good one, all be it upside down  :)

That's a stunning image Andy.

Great rig. I am interested in a mount like that for my AP130 and perhaps Honders 305. The Honders is quite heavy at about 25kgs. Will this mount handle that?

Greg.

Thanks Greg, much appreciated! :)
The payload of the CEM70G is 31.8 kgs, there’s a bigger model the CEM 120 which carries 52kgs.

A great result.

But... that's not a BBQ.

THIS is a BBQ

One of these might also do the trick ;)

beautiful work, Andy! Amazing colour choice.
Great resolution and boy that's a wonderful wide vista. I'm working on the Chicken too, though not able to go this wide.

but tsk tsk, that stacking artefact on the left has to go ;)

Thanks Pete - yes, so far I'm delighted with it :)

:thumbs-up: Thanks Hugh!

Thanks Adam  - well maybe a Malin awards judge would pick up that artifact, but fortunately none of them are currently participating on this forum ;)

Cheers John! :D

Are you saying I could judge in a Malin award? ;)

Yes, but only if you also have a Pratt and Whitney Barbeque. :)

Lots of faint gas & dust rendered in this version which makes it standout amongst the other chickens. That & the colour of course.

Also interesting Voyager tip on the YouTube video re: the automatic star focusing routine, that is very clever indeed.

That's just great Andy, I just laughed when it popped up on my big display, like a slap in the face, it sooo pops, excellent capture and processing

Cheers Andrew - it's worth using Voyager just for the incredible focusing routine, and the web dashboard makes framing targets all too easy. :D

Thanks very much, Fred having gear that now actually does what it says it will on the tin, every time has been such a game-changer for me.
Now if only we could apply a program to customise the weather itself!
