My phone went dead last night.
First thing this morning I took it to Telstra in Casino and as it is on a plan they can fix it but all my stuff will be erased.
I thought I had set it up that my photos were safe but no sadly and so I would like to send it somewhere that can at least get my photos and possibly repair it.
I have purchased another phone so I am ok but the dead phone was pretty good had a great camera so it would be great to have it fixed.
Any one have someone in mind who could do this job?

Hm you’re local Asian computer/phone dude. Mobile phones are deliberately built to NOT be servicable but in china and hong kong there are tons of people who have the tools and whatnots for opening phones, upgrading parts etc even of course cloning data. Its a privacy nightmare to me the thought of it but having a mobile phone your’re privacy is pretty much gone anyway. I guess the real thing to sort out is what do you mean “dead” did it catch fire? Fall in the toilet? Get stepped on? Is it just not charging? Depending on the problem you can probably get it fixed, maybe have it cloned to a “new” same model device, I dont know if the contents can be read like a thumbdrive, phones do tend to have a different way of doing things and encrypted too. Only thing you can do is find one of those seedy looking phone repair store run by asians, Official brand name storea wont help because repairs and recovery are not exactly typical and possible illegal so no teltrsa, optus or apple etc wont help, they have small lists of what they can do. Its how everything is set up, even our government expects every person to have a smart phone and replace it ever year or two. But people are not meant to be able to do anything beyond normal operation of a smartphone buthe the tools to tinker and jailbreak or clone phone operating system is fairly cheap and readily available from china, none of it is something you can use without knowing how already. They are the sort of tools meant for phone hacker types who understand phone fundamentally and are tricky tools to use even then, But its a niche job market thats big in asia and nobody is interested in manufacturers interests they just want to do X & Y with their phone. Like the days of modding your playstation to allow you to burn and play game copies It could be tricky to find people willing to sell you the modchips or fit them (which in some cases involved irreversible changes to the motherboard. So depending on what Dead means for your phone, I’m sure you can find help. Is there a chinatown area near you? Go look for a phone repair store there or a computer repair store and ask them. Unless your phone is burnt to a crisp I’m willing to bet there is a way to recover your stuff, There are forensic recovery labs to but like all data recovery services you’ll likely take one look at its likely to cost you several grand and decide the photos arent worth it. People always seem to be desparate to get their data back until its going to cost more than $5, Its why I dont set up myself to do hdd recovery as people are the biggest problem with the process, so I dont care in the least.
You have al least tried to usb plug it into your computer to see if mounts as a usb storage where some files get put. But best is to take it to the dodgy asian and get them to try what they can and give you a thumbdrive of anything they find, pay them and be thankful for anything and know some of your data is valuable on the black market (like your banking details, passwords, etc) and that stuff will likely end up on the black market joined with other data salvaged from others devices etc.

Thank you Steve..no China Town near me.
I will try plugging it into the lappy...all that happened .was I hit shut off and restart..it shut off but never restarted

Sometimes you have to hold the restart button for what seems like quite a long while - 5 to 10 seconds or so.
Yea Paul that is true one can easily get caught with that.

Sounds like its not dead at all(physically totally destroed is dead, until then not dead, like i said earlier its a question of what its worth to you, forensics folks can take the chips out and put into another same model phone in order to access data to associate to crimes etc.
Go google “ “your exact phone brand and model” “shut down and doesn’t restart” “ simple really to just google for yourself, their may be a way to reset without losing data and wake it up. But you wont know if you wont search. Dumb of me to assume you tried that already, most phones have weird turn on method for putting phone into a safe mode etc, its usually unique to each phone theres no generic ctrl-alt del for phones. Another obvious thing is to remove the battery and let sit for a day before reconnecting. Sorry but its not a goor or suitable question for an astronmy forum. Phones are specialised and closed information systems you need to post on a dedicated forum and give them facts up front. Saying its dead immediately removes so many options because dead means different things but it doesnt even closely represent honestly the situation. Have you even tried finding a phone repair store you can get to? Which is the obvious thing to do. Odds are theres nothing wrong with the phone at all, were you installing something? Maybe directed by someone caliming to be from amazon support or similar?

The closest place is Lismore but it is ruined by flooding...it really is a mess..the shopping centre I go to in which you had Telstra is closed for at least six months and that is if it is not demolished...a Google..that's what I usually do..thanks..

HAPPY DAYS..first... the guy in the shop missed the storage card..I didnt know he took it out the back but my daughter found it..hard to see but I would have thought being in a shop and all...anyways found most of my photos ... but latter when I found my lead plugged it in the lappy and a light appeared and it started to charge..was flat as..
i guess my charger had failed cause I had it on the thing thinking it was not battery...so all back to normal sortta..my new phone has my old number and the old phone now has the $10 it came with plus a $30 ticket while I figure what to do..one will become an emergency spare ...
thanks for all the help
