Wow, this nebula never ceases to amaze me. I love these colours and the right focal length to capture the whole thing. Nice capture :thumbsup:

Great job, but looks all wrong with the outer part being that sort of dirty brown colour.

I spent over 60yrs doing film AP; my digital processing ability is actually very limited. I was assuming that the colour was caused by whatever filters were
used. I only know that the Rosette is red, not brown, and therefore looked
wrong to me. The image is actually very nice, the blue is beautiful, and lots of detail. Sorry if I offended you.

Final hijack of this thread. As far as I am concerned,[and many others, as has
been shown by threads on this subject], if a subject is posted in any colours the poster likes, other than for specific purposes, then that is art, not
conventional AP.

Hi Raymo

I make no claims about art/AP or otherwise. I'm just starting out in this area and it is all monkey see monkey do at the moment. I only just got my narrowband rig and was finding out how people normally process images. SHO seems to be one option and I guess NASA have their reasons. For me it just looks cool but I'm not limiting my self to SHO palettes and if I get to dark enough skies someday I might image Rosette in LRGB. Until then I'm just having fun. I hope others enjoy the journey as much as I currently am.
I'd love to see some of your work Raymo I'm sure you have done some outstanding AP in your time.

Hi John, Well I seem not to have offended you, which is great.
Firstly, as a few of the longtime members here might know, we were burgled many yrs ago, and all my film AP prints and negs went, along with all our family photos. They were all in a suitcase. The worst part is that my wife
doesn't have a pic of her mother who died when my wife was very young.
As I was already in my 70s when digital AP came along, and was not very computer literate, I never advanced far into digital AP. No guiding, and in camera noise reduction enabled, so no separate darks, flats etc:
All done with DSLRs and stacked and basic processing in Deep Sky Stacker.
No further processing.

The moderators don't normally allow any previously posted images to be posted a second time, unless for a specific purpose such as helping beginners, but I'll try posting a few and see what happens.

Sad to hear of your bad experience raymo, that sounds like a great loss. I remember looking in Telescope magazines in the 80's at all the magnificent photos of the nebula and galaxies and wondering just what it took to make such great images.
