Hi all,

here's my third attempt at M-83.

The image was taken with my modified Canon 300D mounted on my 12" f/5 newtonian. The exposure time is 99-minutes @ ISO 400 (33 x 3-minute exposures). Processed with Iris and Photoshop.

Great image, loads of detail in the spiral arms. Any idea whats causing the odd shaped stars though? Sort of distracts from the great galaxy.

I've never seen the 'pinwheel' that colour before but the detail is great.

Nice one Paul.... there seems a bit of a red gradient there giving the galaxy a slightly red bias but other than that...a nice image!!!
Cheers
