This is somewhat typical of a lot of the stuff I do as I just look around and try and find what may be there as opposed to setting out to photograph a particular object....I am pretty sure this was close to the Small Magellan Cloud..or maybe the big one :D ..but was a test on really really high gain..450:eyepop: The polar align was terrible as I had to do a huge crop.

It was a case of making a silk purse out of a pigs ear but a lot of fun to find something in what seemed to be black subs...

OK ...but anyone know the names ???

I created 5 stacks and the subs seemed to be HA O11 red blue..so stacked all of them to use that one as as L and played around mainly to work with Startools seeing what things do..the noise was really terrible but I pushed Startools for a result then played in Photoshop to get this...

But it has been a great 24 hours..remembered a lot of things be forgetting to do them in the first place and it feels like I am imaging. I am not but its better to get started with this sort of thing so when a clear sky comes I can concentrate on all the new stuff I will bring into my routine.

As soon as you gave me a hint I found them straight away on Stellarium
Big star cluster with nebulosity is NGC 346
Middle cluster with nebulosity is NGC 371
Small cluster with nebulosity is NGC 395

And yes they are located to the right of the SMC about 1 degree

A lot of folk prefer other planetariums for locating objects and navigation for their mounts, that’s fine there’s lots of great Apps out there , but I’m a big EQMOD and Stellarium fan , have been for 5 years
I use it to plan a nights observing with my 12” Goto dob plus tracking and Goto for my imaging

I have looked at the intro for Startools V1.8 but I haven’t downloaded it yet
It has some incredible additional modules and improvements on current modules like SV Decon , Narrowband Accents on Visual Spectrum data , HDR upgrade , Wavelet Sharpening , Colour and so on .....
I’m still using v1.7 for a while but will upgrade at some stage this year ( if we get any clear nights ) I still haven’t used V1.7 on so many objects due to the bad weather since September last year. Probably only had a dozen clear nights over the last 6 months.
Can only get better ........
