MEADE LX600 f8 16" OTA

I have decided to sell my 16 inch LX600 due to changing circumstances, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the best SCT's ever made. I have owned this scope for less than two years, it's been housed in a filtered air environment in a Sirius Dome. It's in excellent condition.

One of the best features of the f8 scopes is the internal Crayford style two speed focuser with 7:1 reduction, this eliminates focus shift. For those who are unaware the mirror slides on ball bearings unlike the usual sloppy greased shaft found on f10 Celestron and Meade OTA's.

This OTA has been finetuned using a Hotec Advanced CT Laser Collimator (see photos), if you don't know what that is look here -

Comes with two adapters for HyperStar use, C14 and C11, both work extremely well. Don't bother to tell me you can't convert a Meade ACF scope for HyperStar use, I have read all the armchair expert opinions. If you want to know more PM me.

You get the option to image at f1.6, f5.4 and f8
This scope is ideal for fast imaging, the usual f10 OTA with a HyperStar is f2, this f8 OTA is f1.6 with a HyperStar.

I have found the Astrophysics CCD Telecompressor f6.7 works very well with ACF optics, see-

https://optcorp.com/products/astro-physics-ccd-focal-reducer-for-f-9-f-18

At f8 the focal reduction is about f5.4 for this reducer.

With a focal length of 3251mm planetary photography is excellent, the f8 aperture allows very fast capture rates.

I have made a spider vane accessory to use if you like the look of spikes on the stars, it is also a good way to manage the HyperStar cables.
I am selling the OTA only just like it comes from the shop, no finder-scope, diagonal or eyepieces. You do however get the two HyperStar adapters, the secondary mirror holder for keeping the secondary safe if a HyperStar is fitted and the spider vane accessory, all black anodized and Bob's Knobs.

I have the original box so transport won't be a problem.

These scopes were usually around $14,500 AUD when you could get them, OPT has them for $10,500 US plus shipping which would be very expensive landed here.

I am asking $8500 plus transport.

PM me if you are interested.
