Hi all,

First ever crack at solar Ha imaging. Picked up a daystar quark chromosphere.

Well i have to say newtons rings effect is very annoying, harder to deal with than what I anticipated. but managed to set up during the day get the scope tracking, find the sun and focus and even got some useable captures. unfortunately conditions deteriorated somewhat by the time i managed to reduce the newtons ring effect but oh well.

anyway - definitely appreciate the efforts the solar imagers do, it has another couple of dimensions on top of regular planetary imaging - which is already difficult enough!

Obviously being first light I went a bit bananas on the captures etc :thumbsup:

Great introductory Ha shots Russell despite those pesky Newtons Rings. What is the size of the scope used to take your images?
Well done!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

hi gerard,
thanks for the comment - i was using my 130mm f7 refractor. perhaps looking at getting something smaller w/ a lighter mount to make it a bit more grab and go. :thumbsup:

Cheers

Russ
