Just viewed a new product out of the UK to assist in balancing your EQ mount accurately. The Prologik EQ Balance Meter.
I seem to recall the method of using the mount motors running current to check balance was mentioned a year or two ago on a YouTube clip.
Probably more designed for the mid to lower end EQ mounts that seem to have a sticky or tight axis.
The meter can also be used to adjust Dec and Ra worm gears to avoid micro binding as well.
Probably takes all the guess work away which is a good thing
A bit pricey ( so is a laser collimator for example) but it’s a useful piece of Astro tool for life.
